Basic needs:
Housing- a three sided shed or dog house, should be clean, dry
and draft free so animals can escape the weather. Shade during the summer
months is also important.
Fencing- should be four to five feet high. Fencing will keep your goat safe from
predators and also keep your goat away form toxic plants that can kill.
Hay- Alfalfa, oat, rye grass of good quality.
Water- Clean and always available.
Grain- cob or goat pellet, does about a cup a day, wethers not more than a
handful a day.
Salt- always available. I prefer a loose mineral.
Worming- two to three times a year as needed.
Vaccinations- CD&T or Covexin 8 at least once a year on mature animals.
Bo-se at least twice a year if you are in a selenium deficient area
Hoof trimming- every other month or as often as needed.
